The Oldest House, 16 Sunset Hill

Join us Friday mornings throughout the summer at the Oldest House for a relaxing tour of Mrs. Coffin's Garden. Take an hour to learn about the medicinal, cooking, and aromatic qualities of each plant and herb from the woman who researches, designs, and maintains the NHA gardens, Kathrina Marques.

The Historic Homes and Architecture walking tour follows the ebb and flow of people to Nantucket through the lens of architecture. Visitors will learn about the island’s two key historic industries, whaling and tourism, which shaped the Nantucket of today. This tour will give visitors insight into Nantucket’s architecture, society, and domestic life through the centuries.

The tour ends at Greater Light, 8 Howard Street, with refreshments and snacks. 

This tour is weather dependent.

Walk through historic downtown Nantucket with an NHA Museum Guide and discover the unique history of the island. The Downtown Walking tells the story of the rise and the fall of the whaling industry, the rise of tourism, and the impacts the island's economy had on social and racial development on Nantucket.
