Join the NHA for a special lecture and book signing with David O. Dowling, author of Surviving the Essex: The Afterlife of America’s Most Storied Shipwreck. Dowling explores survivor accounts of the Essex’s ill-fated voyage, and the role that one’s viewpoint plays into shaping memories of an event. Dowling is an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa. A book signing will follow the lecture.
