How do animals navigate? An answer to this fundamental question has eluded philosophers and scientists for more than 3000 years – until now. Join the NHA for an evening lecture with scientist Travis Horton as he uncovers the basics of humpback whale navigation using satellite tracking and historic whaling logbooks.  Horton, the first scientist to use this combination of historical documents and GPS tracking, will also discuss the value of whaleship logbooks to our understanding of animal navigation behavior through time.
